Nova represents the creation of elements or could also be seen as the creation of the universe. We are comprised of chemical elements and those elements originate from the explosion of stars. This event is significant in its own right, but also hints at the greater beginning: the Big Bang. The central hub represents the initial star or source of explosion. The spires represent the radiation of the newly created chemical elements, and the marble tips are those things the elements become, or the stars coalescing.
The challenge to this piece was integrating the wood and marble and tying in the lighting element.
